The concept of an event stream refers to what simply amounts to a *big-ass amount of data*. A helpful metaphor for non software people is that of an inbox “feed” where the things appearing in that feed are really just discrete pieces of information that describe something useful to know—eg: the happiness level of Joey’s cat, state transitions of objects undergoing some kind of operation, etc.

If the universe (eg: reality / everything_there_is) is the set of all true propositions — let’s call this the set S — then the Event Stream is the power set of S (eg: the set of all subsets of S, including S itself). The kooky thing about the concept of power set is that the power set of S is actually bigger than S. You can read more about it here on Wolfram.
